On The Road with Feed the Hungry

Today, Lamar and Gene are traveling to Nicaragua to join River of Life Fellowship from Washington on a short term mission trip where we will distribute food packs, paint a chuch, and disciple to as many people as possible. Please pray that our team travels safely, that God will put on our tongue's the message of his love as we share with the broken, and that our lives be molded and our minds open as His hand be upon us!

Please also pray for Chuck, Dave, Stefan, & Pete as they are in Houston for our community outreach day with the NCAA Final Four this week.

Please also pray for Jean Pierre from Germany and Armanda from Hong Kong  as they travel to Japan to view the work with CRASH on the ground in Sendai and the surrounding areas, to look at the long term help needed.

Making Progess In Japan

As aftershocks from the March 11th earthquake continue to shake Japan and fears of a meltdown at the Fukushima Nuclear Plant continue to drive international news, one story left untold is the hardship facing 220,000+ people displaced from their homes and living in shelters. They have lost loved ones… their homes, farms, businesses, and sense of self, destroyed.

Feed The Hungry is on the front lines purchasing and distributing critically needed supplies through partner church networks like CRASH Japan and the Assemblies of God.

Your support today will assist in keeping the relief pipeline open, providing items like bottled water, rice, canned goods, energy bars, infant formula, diapers, personal hygiene products, children & adult undergarments, and heating fuel to the elderly, families, and children huddled together in temporary shelters.

By God’s grace, FTH will load two ocean-going containers next week to leave the US bound for Sendai Port in the heart of the tsunami affected zone. with 10 further containers awaiting customs clearance, from Germany we also have 6 containers ready to be shipped out.

But we need you help to asssit us to pay for the shipping costs. click here to donate online now

God is bringing people together from all over the world to help Japan. While our objective at the moment is to show compassion in Jesus’ name to the hurting by satisfying their physical needs through food, water, clothes, etc., our greatest contribution and long-term help will come by sharing God’s comfort, strength, and message of hope to an insular nation that is less than 1% Christian.

Feed The Hungry - Haiti Update

Whilst Japan is taking up a lot of our time, we did load a 40-foot high-cube container today for Haiti-- 80,000 or so fortified rice/soy meals, 1/2 a semi-load of new cookware, and a playground unit for a new school & displaced housing centre that Love A Child is building the playground that we delivered previously has bought a lot of joy to the kids in Haiti who had never seen one before, it is making such a difference to their wellbeing, being able to laugh and play among the mountains of rubble still in piles where the building  collapsed over 12 months ago.Learn more about the work of Feed the Hungry @ www.feedthehungry.org.uk

What's happening in Japan

Some of the questions people may be thinking about about what is happening on the ground

What aid physically has been rendered

Asked JAG to send a brief report of items purchased w/ first wire (1/3 baby food, formula; 1/3 water & food; 1/3 heating fuel) and where distributed.  Awaiting repot

What is in progress

In-country purchase:

Dialogued with CRASH last night on needs list based on their team assessments.  Noted that we will wire upon receipt of their planned appropriation of funds to purchase an assortment of the following per their assessment:

* Rice, canned items, energy bars, and retort-pouch food
* Baby diapers, baby formula, baby food
* Menstrual pads, wet wipes
* male & female undergarments, socks
* Hygiene items: soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.

Bob Boucek from Feed The Hungry and CRASH are trying to source large quantity of rice to purchase in country, possibly out of Kobe.

- Containerized shipment:

Barring surprise information, it seems that the importation of rice/soy meals will be a no-go.  Govt. of Japan is VERY particular when it comes to rice imported into Japan. The rice that they grow & eat is short grain; the rice in our meal packs is long grain. All indications we have received is that Customs has not/will not be lenient to imported foodstuffs. We do have a container of new cookware to ship to Japan.

- How is CRASH distributions going?

They are experiencing measured success-- still challenges with sourcing supply and transportation;

- What are the present needs and what are our capabilities?

Present needs listed above; in my opinion, with the Japan Defense Force moving from rescue operations to recovery, things ought to start moving rather quickly over the next two weeks.  Unlike Haiti, the Japanese will have roads and rubble cleared within a month and temporary housing developments set up within 2-3 months for the displaced.

Our main m.o. at the moment is to continue in-country purchase of ‘needed right now’ food and non-food items for delivery to the hurting in Jesus’ name.

Please continue to pray and partner with us in Japan. Every little helps to make a difference when thousands of people  have lost everything. Help todya online by donating at www.feedthehungry.org.uk

Thank you for your prayer

Thank you for your prayer : over the weekends, many Christian groups called for prayer meetings throughout the city to cry out to God for His mercy. God is a God that answer prayers. By Sunday (20 March 2011) news report began to pour out that Fukushima No 1 plant fuel rods finally cooled down after brave fire fighters battled on to ensure the radiators would not melt down.  Other radiators are progressing to become stabilized. The fire fighters described it as a battle against an unseen foe in the form of radiation.

We are grateful following pastors and church members are found. God has protected His Own :
Pastor Tanaka and his family. They are in shelter in Sendai now and it seems like they are fine.
Please continue to pray for Mr. Naoyoshi Sato. He is Christian, working in the atomic reactor and trying to fix the cooling system.

Please pray for Pastors and members of Sendai Minami Yoshinari Church. The church have regular prayer meeting for Israel. The building was damaged and they are tired and not enough food and basic supply.
Please pray for Seaside Bible Church in Sendai. The building was
CRASH OPERATIONS
washed out but Pastor Naito and his family are saved miraculously,
and his heart is burning with Isaiah 54.
(prayer points by Ps Ofer Amitai of Israel Prayer Center Jerusalem)

Japan Govt appointed a logistic director for rescue operation, this person is a born again Christian, and also a member of the CRASH.

Please continue to pray for Japan.

News Release

CRASH Japan

Press Release - March 17, 2011 #2
Half a Million Meals Donated

Tokyo, Japan- March 17, 2011- With the establishment of the first CRASH Base Camp, CRASH has been promised two 40-foot containers of much needed food. The containers are filled with enough rice and soy to make more than 500,000 meals — ideal for feeding large groups of people. The much-needed donation comes from Feed the Hungry.

Many other organizations are also sending supplies. Although CRASH has the network to reach those in immediate need, such large donations require significant resources to get from crate to table. CRASH Japan continues to seek funds to ensure the pressing needs of victims are quickly met.

Help FEED THE HUNGRY to partner with CRASH provide much needed help.

THE SURVIVORS NEED HELP – WE ASK YOU TO PRAYERFULLY CONSIDER
HELPING THESE NEEDY PEOPLE

“We’ve had an earthquake followed by fire, then a tsunami, then radiation, and now snow. It’s everything…..”
“'There is nothing left. The world needs to step in…..Why is there no food ?.............”

“The Japanese are too proud to ask, but we need help and we need it now…….”
In times of difficulty, our compassion compels us to help one another. The Japanese are our brothers and sisters. They need our help in whatever manner we can we must/should gather our resources and offer to them who are in dire need at this time. LET US BE MORE HUMAN and MORE CHRISTIAN LIKE... AND FEEL THIS TRAGEDY. RATHER THAN FOCUSING ON THE NEGATIVES WHICH WILL NOT HELP AT ALL. Let us offer our help in any form and try our best to help them.

Dear Japanese brothers and sisters. WE ARE TRYING OUR BEST TO HELP YOU. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.... KEEP MOVING

KCM Partners With Feed the Hungry to Aid Japan

March 18, 2011
Kenneth and Gloria Copeland and the Kenneth Copeland Ministries family of Partners across America and around the world, join our faith and financial resources with the Feed the Hungry organization to bring restoration, healing and hope to the people of Japan. In the wake of the natural disasters that hit Japan a few days ago, people are in need of a number of resources as basic as clean water, food and shelter.

This is our opportunity, as Christ’s ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20), to represent Jesus and His love to the people of Japan. As we read in 1 John 4:12, New Living Translation, “No one has ever seen God, but if we love each other, God lives in us, and His love is brought to full expression in us.” We can live the words of that scripture today.

As we stand with Feed the Hungry, we are helping to respond to this natural disaster by helping local churches and disaster relief teams that are currently on the ground in Japan. Also, financial gifts in the form of Emergency Fund Transfers will provide much needed water, ready-to-eat foods, formula, diapers and other relief aid for immediate distribution to families across that nation.

Here are a few examples of what our partnership as a team of faith will support:

    * Bases to distribute aid already active in Fukushima, North and South Sendai, Minami, Sanrikucho, Morioka and Hachinohe
    * Basic items such as baby food, formula, food, water and blankets
    * Containers of rice and soy meal to provide more than 500,000 meals, supply hygiene kits, and other personal-care items

We invite you to join with us by donating directly to Feed the Hungry to help in this relief work.

Japan Earthquake Update -

Feed The Hungry working together with
(JAG) Japan Assemblies of God
and
CRASH (Christian Relief Assistance Support and Hope)
From the Japan Assemblies of God (JAG) side, Nobunuri, the point man who travelled to Sendai on Sunday to connect w/ the 20 AG churches is on hisway back to Tokyo today.  Nobunuri shared with me that getting quantities of supplies up to Miyagi Prefecture will be a big challenge due to broken roads and fuel rationing.

The report from Ayuka @ JAG HQ is that displaced people/families are migrating to Tokyo from the flood and nuclear evacuated areas.Displacement shelters at schools & public buildings and churches are being set up.

The funds from FTH wired to JAG will be used as follows: 1/3 for baby food, formula & diapers, 1/3 for food & bottled water, and 1/3 for fuel & transportation.  Our first line of relief will be JAG Bible
School/Seminary students distributing supplies in newly development shelters north of Tokyo.

As of last night, Stop Hunger Now verbally donated 4 containers of rice meals for FTH pipeline in Japan; a total of 1.1 million meals.  JAG is working on the clearing process for the first container and has arranged storage space at one of their church facilities.

CRASH, will likely develop into another distribution partner for FTH assets. The group has gathered some good momentum and I speculate that they will develop the connections with the government/military for logistic support in moving relief supplies in quantity to the north.

These people will need our support and prayers!

Please pray also for means of transporting the aid to the affected areas as fuel is rationed to they only allow 10 litres per vehicle which will not be sufficient to make the journey. Also that the paperwork for containers will go through quickly.

Please help us today to cal 0845 519 6025 or donate online at www.feedthehungry.org.uk

Reach out to thousands of lives with God’s compassion and bring comfort to many who have losteverything. Please do what you can today to help reach those who have lost everything.
